Lykes Bros. Inc. at the Environmental Permitting Summer School

Lykes Bros. enjoyed attending the 40th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School on July 21-24, 2026, at the JW Marriott Marco Island.

The conference featured several opportunities to hear from Lykes Bros. leaders as they shared their expertise on some of Florida’s most important environmental and conservation topics:

Grace Campbell, AWB®, Wildlife Biologist, served as a panelist for Conservation and Management of Imperiled Species on Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:30AM-12:10PM, where panelists reviewed the regulations, policy, and programs that guide the conservation and management of imperiled species while discussing creative strategies for addressing complex business and conservation challenges. The discussion explored how comprehensive planning and collaboration among agencies, stakeholders, landowners, and project proponents help minimize impacts, improve habitat, strengthen conservation and recovery efforts, and ultimately improve the status of Florida’s imperiled species.

Cari Roth, J.D., Vice President of Governmental & Regulatory Affairs, participated in Using Public-Private Partnerships to Solve Florida’s Water Challenges, a panel exploring Florida’s growing water supply, water quality, and infrastructure needs on Wednesday, July 22nd at 1:30PM-3:10PM. The discussion examined how public-private partnerships (P3s), legislative initiatives, and private sector expertise can help address Florida’s future water resource challenges through innovative investment and collaboration.

Cari also participated in the conference’s Luncheon with Fireside Chat on Wednesday, July 22nd at 12:10PM-1:30PM, where industry leaders discussed current issues shaping Florida’s environmental and regulatory landscape.

In addition to our speaking roles, we had a booth in the exhibitor area to share about our Gopher Tortoise Relocation Services.

We were proud to be part of the conversations helping shape the future of conservation, water resources, and responsible land stewardship in Florida.
