Lykes Bros. Inc. President and CEO Johnnie James announces the promotions of Derek Hendrie, P.E., Hal Duncan, and Ken Travis to new positions at Lykes Bros. Inc. On these appointments, Johnnie James said: "We are fortunate to have employees of this caliber and longevity with the company to promote into new and expanded responsibilities. I am confident they will succeed in these roles and continue Lykes Bros's tradition of excellence in agriculture".
Derek Hendrie, P.E., has been promoted from Engineering Manager to Director of Engineering. Hendrie is a 2012 Agricultural Engineering graduate of the University of Florida. During his 11-year tenure at Lykes, he has distinguished himself on his work on a myriad of complex permitting, water storage, and other construction projects. Derek is a member of the recently graduated Class XI of the Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources. He has also served as vendor coordinator for the FL Section of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers since 2013 and treasurer from 2014 to 2018.
Hal Duncan has been promoted to Vice President of Citrus. Hal recently celebrated his 23rd year of employment within the Citrus Division of Lykes Bros. Inc. Having overseen or performed almost every role in the division; he is intimately familiar with all aspects of citrus production. He is well-equipped to continue Lykes’ leadership in Florida citrus. Hal is also a certified Crop Advisor through the American Society of Agronomy, a Highlands County Citrus Growers Association board member, and the Highlands County Farm Bureau.
Ken Travis has been with Lykes for over 17 years. His excellent management and people skills made him a natural choice to add Office Manager to his current position as Purchasing Manager at Lykes’ Brighton Ranch office. Before joining Lykes, Travis served his country for 12 years in the United States Air Force.
